You have just found the one-stop website for anything and everything theatre in the Niagara Region. StKittsTheatre.com works closely with many of the local theatre companies in the Niagara Region in an effort to keep artists and audiences up-to-date with information about upcoming shows, workshops, auditions, job & volunteer opportunities and much more.
StKittsTheatre.com has grown a lot since launch-day August 8th, 2008. The site is the proud home of Every Tuesday, a weekly comic series featuring the story of Zombie Shakespeare, Chekhov and Stanislavski; written and drawn by Calder Archinuk. The site also has an Artist of the Month feature which celebrates and acknowledges contributions made within and for the arts community. Nominations are submitted by members of the community through the site and the nominee can be anyone in or surrounding the arts community at large. There are also features like the Book Review page and the Short Stories page - both featuring submissions by local artists. In April of 2009, StKittsTheatre.com partnered up with the James Wegg Review website in order to bring visitors reviews of the shows happening in the Niagara Region.
StKittsTheatre.com is proud to be promoting 23 theatre companies from the Niagara Region - and all for free! This site has been made in an effort to keep more people connected to the theatre scene as we firmly believe theatre is something to be shared.
Take your time to navigate through some of the resources available on this page such as the Audition Board and the Company listing, or the News page and Online Resources.
Got theatre news or want to be featured on the site? Have a great idea for a new feature, or just want to be involved? There are currently plenty of volunteer opportunities available with the site.
Check out the contact page for more details.
February 2010:
Apologies... this website is currently not being updated.
It has become a very time-intensive project that I alone cannot keep up with anymore. The administrative duties and liaison-work with each of the respective companies within the region became increasingly difficult after 22 companies were on board! I will leave this website up as a resource for individuals looking for contact information to the companies in the area. However, please understand that the audition page, upcoming shows page, volunteer page, etc will no longer be updated and are considered far out of date.
I want to thank everyone who supported me through the creation of this project. A lot of work and time went into this website, and it's purpose is still very close to my heart. Without the support of many individuals and theatre groups, it just would not have been possible.
I hope that someday in the near future I will be able to return to this project and continue to offer current theatre news from all of the theatre organizations in the region.
Until then, enjoy all of the local theatre!!
If you are hard-pressed to find a way to connect with "What's Playing", stop by the St.Catharines and Area Arts Council on James Street downtown. They have a plethora of resources there and provide listings for most of the theatre companies that were listed here on this site.
Congratulations!
