Calder Archinuk

Calder became involved in some of the St. Catharines Collegiate's plays, including 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' and 'Seussical'. Primarily backstage, he also wrote and directed his own play as a final project for Drama class.

At Brock University, Calder left theatre behind. Then, his studies there conflicted with his interests and he left Brock. While he was working downtown, his brother was asked by Bryan White for a web-comic. With time to kill and a chance to reconnect with theatre, Calder offered to produce it.

Currently, he is staying rather busy studying Game Design at the Vancouver Film School.

Rene is a working professional bilingual director/choreographer/performer/writer working locally and internationally. As an artist and past chair of the cultural committee for the City of St.Catharines, she supports initiatives such as this communicative link which shows promise and commitment to the continual positive growth and development of our dynamic creative community.


Jason Cadieux

Jason Cadieux has been acting professionally for 15 years.  He was first introduced to Toronto audiences as Romeo in Die in Debtʼs futuristic production of Romeo and Juliet (95); he then went on to play one of the leads in Canadaʼs first Soap Opera, Family Passions, (CTV). Jason was nominated for Genie for his portrayal of Simon in the film adaptation of Michael Marc Bouchard's Lilies (John Greyson/Tryptich Media). Since those early days Jason has been privileged to be a part of some groundbreaking productions. 

Selected theatre credits include; Billy in the cross Canada tour of High Life by Lee McDougal, Directed by Jim Millan, Matt in Brad Fraserʼs Poor Superman Directed by Derek Goldby (Torontoʼs Canadian Stage and Winnipegʼs Theatre) Yahweh in Sky Gilbertʼs More Devine, the inaugural show at Buddies in Bad Timeʼs new theatre space. Rodrigo in Rosa Laborteʼs Leo with the Great Canadian Theatre Company in Ottawa (Directed by Michellen Chervrier) and most recently George in ECT's production of Possible Worlds by John Mighton (Directed by Peter Feldman).

Jason has taken part in numerous workshops of original plays and has written 4 plays, all of which he has produced with his own St Catharines based theatre company The Essential Collective Theatre.

Fede Holten

Fede has been involved in theatre as an actor, director and writer for the past twelve years. He was Artistic Director of the theatre company The Performers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 2001 to 2004, with whom he toured Shakespearean adaptations through the largest theatres in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Prior to this, he devised theatre with several collectives and experimented with different approaches to classical theatre pieces such as Hamlet and Lazarillo de Tormes. From 2003 to 2005 he was also a storyteller for Disney Latin America.

Fede was trained in Buenos Aires from 1995 to 1998 as an actor, director and devisor by Rodolfo Bernardez - who taught the Argentine interpretation of Stanislavsky's method as elaborated by Grotowski and others, and applied to Naturalism, Physical Theatre, Classical Theatre, Children's Theatre, Absurdism and Devised Theatre.

Since coming to Canada in 2005, Fede has actively participated in the emerging theatre scene in St.Catharines. He co-founded Portable Theatre for whom he performed a lead role in their one act Bubbly for Two, in the summer of 2007 his play The Free Country premiered during the winter of 2006 he translated the Argentine Classic The Nona into English and he is presently the Artistic Director and co-founder of Stolen Theatre Collective.


Vicki Jenkins

Vicki Jenkins holds an Associates Degree in acting from the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts: having studied both at the New York and Hollywood campuses. She attended an additional third year at the as a member of the Academy Company performing in a season of plays: playing a full range of characters from Reggie Fluttie in the Laramie Project to Mary Hanes in the Women.

Vicki has studied improv at the Second City Training Centre in Toronto. Completing both the Beginning Program and the Conservatory Program, working with an ensemble cast to write and perform a SecondCity style review.

She has performed at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, various theatres in Los Angeles and from time to time hawks goods for soulless corporations in TV commercials.

Deanna Jones

Deanna is co-founder and Artistic Director of Suitcase in Point (SIP). She is a professional actress living in St.Catharines, Ontario. She has performed for Suitcase in Point, Carousel Players, Theatre Beyond Words, RED Cabaret, Theatre Rien-Pantoute and most recently for Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects in the Downtown Reading Festival. Deanna has a BA in theatre from Brock University and has studied with One Yellow Rabbit, North American Cultural Laboratory, SITI Company, Peter Balkwill and Philipe Gaullier.


Brian Kremen

Brian has been actively involved in the arts as a performer, director, producer and arts administrator for nearly 40 years.  His early career as a actor included performing Off-Broadway under such directors as Word Baker, Elinor Renfield and Julian Boyd and in touring productions of “Hello, Dolly,” “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Baby.” He has taught Acting and Musical Theatre at HB Studios and The Actors Institute in
New York City.
 
Brian has served as Artistic Producer for three theatre companies: Contemporary Theatre Productions in Oklahoma City, Spotlight Theatre in Mississauga (both not for profits) and Followspot Theatre in Toronto (commercial).  He has directed over thirty-two productions, including the Canadian premiere of the Dora nominated musical "Falsettos.” He has working with Canadian Stage Company, Tarragon Theatre, Gryphon Theatre and Smile Theatre Company. Brian was the first director to simultaneously produce and direct two productions in the Toronto Fringe.

He and his partner were the first recipients of a Commercial Theatre Development Grant.  He is also an award winning set designer Brian was honoured to serve twice as a juror for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, General Theatre Category.

As an arts administrator, Brian worked for the Toronto Theatre Alliance, managing and restructuring T.O.Tix from a member service to a substantial revenue source. He served as Vice President of the Ontario Professional Ticketing Association and was on the Steering Committee and Communications Chair of the 2001 INTIX Conference in Toronto.  He has  served as Director of Development for the Mississauga Symphony, as Marketing Consultant for Artword Theatre, as Consulting Producer for Actors’ Repertory Theatre and as General Manager for ShakespeareWorks.

Currently, Brian is the Fund Development Officer for the St. Catharines and Area Arts Council. A recent “immigrant” to the Niagara Region, he is astounded by the wealth of talent and dedication to the performing arts that he has found here.  He is excited to be able to work through the Arts Council to provide a sustainable environment in which the performing arts of the region may continue to grow and flourish.


Spencer Smith

Spencer is an aspiring playwright going into his third year at Brock University; majoring in Theatre - Dramatic Literature stream. While at Brock, Spencer has been privileged enough to have his written work featured in several play-reading festivals hosted by local theatre companies, including Theatre Beyond Words, Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects, and most recently, Essential Collective Theatre's 'Wine & Reading Series'. Spencer has been complimented on his unique rhythmic style and raw written voice and is eager to explore both fully in the years to come. Besides writing, Spencer has also acted in and outside of Brock University and will be making his directorial debut this upcoming January with Brock Musical Theatre's production of 'Urinetown'.

Ada Smith-Sparling

Ada Smith-Sparling is a forth year Theatre student at Brock University. She will be performing the role Medea in Brock’s November 2008 mainstage production Medea. Last year at Brock she performed a scene from Othello in the Humanities Showcase. She has also helped some of the St. Catharine’s area theatre companies with the technical aspects of their shows. Before transferring to Brock, Ada spent a year working as an actor in a Science Museum. She has Associates Degree in theatre from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. While at HACC she was cast in several productions including: 'The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane', 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe', 'The Merchant of Venice', 'Song of Survival' and 'The Boys Next Door'.


Bryan White

Bryan is a director, writer, and web-designer based in St.Catharines. He is currently serving as Creative Management Intern at the Shaw Festival. Bryan is the Editor-in-Chief of Shaw's internal newsletter "SHAWp TALK", assists with projects within the Education department, PR department, Literary Management. Bryan served a 6 month internship with Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects where he was involved with administrative duties, was a Production Assistant for a production Albertine in Five Times and Assistant Director for production of American Buffalo. As a volunteer, he is a talent co-coordinator of the James Street Night of Art for the St.Catharines and Area Arts Council and a Technical Assistant for In The Soil: Niagara's Homegrown Arts Festival. A Brock University alumni, he is dedicated to the arts scene blooming in the city and is committed to projects which celebrate community, stimulate positive change and generate civic encounters. Bryan worked on several mainstage productions during his time at Brock, as well as co-created a semi-annual festival called the Gimmie 2 Festival that still runs twice a year.
