Since then the company has grown with a mandate to provide Niagara audiences with professional comedy by some of the best comedic writers of our time. We've also made it our mission to give the Niagara theatre community a home to act, direct or paint the sets. Our team features Niagara talent at its best and we will continue into our fourth season proud of the fact that we get no financial help from anyone, pay our entire team and still operate in the black...4 years running.

Picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake is the backdrop for a new adventure in interactive theatre. "Mystery on the Lake", a production of iTheatre Inc., is an innovative concept in entertainment that combines the history and culture of the old town, with the entertainment of theatre and the fun of teamwork in solving historical puzzles. Fitting in with the theatre theme and the town's historic richness, the "Mystery on the Lake" experience is part theatre, part scavenger hunt, part historical education and part walking tour... all presented in an environment of mystery and intrigue as the audience works together in groups of 10 to 12 as they make their way through the town searching for clues and interacting with unusual characters played by actors. Discovering who is part of the show, and who isn't is all part of the experience. The script writers have created a storyline for this performance that utilizes actual historic and cultural facts and combines the fun and drama of live theatre and improv through interaction with a variety of colourful characters as they guide you through the town on a quest to solve "The Secret of Butlersburg."

The Shaw Festival is the only theatre in the world that specializes exclusively in plays by Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries, and in plays about the period of Shaw's lifetime. We are one of the few theatre companies that has a permanent acting company, and the only one in the world which specializes in such a defined historical period. The Shaw Festival is renowned internationally for single-handedly revitalizing and re-energizing the works of Bernard Shaw, and tackling the vast array of theatre pieces in our mandate - presenting them anew to appreciative theatre audiences. The Shaw's mandate was expanded in 2000 to also include contemporary plays written about the period of Bernard Shaw's life, 1856-1950.
The Academy is the professional training, play development, publishing and public education wing of the company. It began in 1985 as an informal skills exchange among company members, and still retains that important function. The Academy also sponsors workshop productions and the annual Directors Project as well as many outreach programs for the public, including the Shaw Seminars, Saturday Conversations, and tours for groups and the public.

"Stray Theatre is an informal collective of theatre workers who come together periodically to present productions on a voluntary basis. All members were formerly with what is now known as the Dept. of Dramatic Arts at Brock University. For several years they produced one play each year in downtown St.Catharines, with no overall name to their group. Then in November 2007, they moved into a venue on Bond Street (downtown), which they named The Space on Bond, and named themselves Stray Theatre (as in straying off the beaten path) and produced a season of four plays from the modern theatre world repertory which were very enthusiastically received. In November 2008 Stray left that space (landlord trouble) and currently rent performance space where they can. They will mount at least two and perhaps four productions in the current season as they continue to be committed to presenting worthwhile theatre in downtown. The founding members of Stray Theatre are: Dawn Crysler, Katie Dubois, Steve Watson, Jack Wieler, Mac Dodge, Frank Cunsolo and Peter Feldman. Associated with Stray are Pat Noonan, Mary Laundry, Maeve D'Amico, Doug Ledingham, Julia Dodge and Kelly Gillard. Here is their mandate:
Stray Theatre is committed to encouraging the artistic vision of each member and the work of other Niagara Artists through access and opportunity. We will explore work that pushes the boundaries of its time and create Niagara-based interpretations of great plays and original works by our company and for our community."
